Making it official tomorrow

I haven't been updating because I was swamped with a new job, moving into a new house and preparing for my wedding. So far we've lived at our new nest for little less than a month and the big day is tomorrow.

I haven't got good news about my current job because my present employers have put me in a very difficult position due to their inability to be clear of they wanted when they made me an offer. So on top of my stress cake of moving and getting married is a big fat juicy cherry of having to look for a new job. But unlike the past, I am now choosing to move away from asking "Why is this happening?", and picking myself up to walk on a new path. I shall not be bothered by idiots who made the decision to hire a rookie and then dropping it all without even providing any useful coaching. As much as I was worrying a few days ago about whether I could find a new job, I'm hopeful. It took some sobbing sessions to arrive at a slightly more positive stage but I'm glad I can move on.

So... I gotta keep my nerves in check for my big day tomorrow. I shall be updating with photos but we don't have Internet at our new place. The good news is, I saw TM contractors laying down the cables yesterday and it should be available in a month or so. Yippee!! I'm beginning to like this positive thinking thing.

Keys to my crib

It's finally happening. I'm getting the keys to our first (and new!) home this weekend!! Things have been slowly creeping up on me and I just realized that I'm about to be a mad new house owner for the next couple of months! I'm already worrying about potential problems with the contractors, what colour should I paint my walls, what colour should my kitchen cabinet be in, yadayadayada... How lovely it would be to have Mr Bun back home sharing this milestone with me but alas, he needed to be away to bring home the bacon and so be it.

Thank goodness for my habit of saving beautiful photographs of other people's homes and now I am set to make my very own inspiration board. But first I'll have to filter out what I really want and then work from there. This will not be easy.

I'm kicking off the process with meetings with contractors this weekend, screening them based on their characters and responses as well as the quotations that will come later. Coming from the middle income bracket, I'd definitely need to look for the best price but I'm trying hard not to focus too much on the price. The workmanship and reliability plays a bigger role in this process.

I guess the house will keep me busy for at least 6 months. Obviously I'm hoping for the best and will try my darnest not to lose it. I need to keep my bridezilla mode for my wedding. I hope my house doesn't give me a meltdown before that.

My decor live savers

I've posted a new blog roll on the bottom right column. I found these links to some gorgeous home decor sites via because im addicted. The beautiful colours and furnitures make me very happy - at least until I need to fork out the moolah to buy them. These will be very useful for ideas and inspirations when our new home is ready. I might have enough time to save up some funds if I start now.
