Health is Wealth

Remember when I had surgery a year ago to remove a cyst? Immediately after that, my gynae had put me on an induced menopause so that my body has enough time to heal and rest post surgery. His concern was that my regular menstruation might trigger a regrowth and it would be such bad news to have me sliced up again so soon after my first surgery.

It was quite a roller coaster ride during my induced menopause. I mean, I'm only in my mid 20's and I'm already getting first hand experience on what my mom would be going through. The benefits that I enjoyed were to quit buying sanitary pads, clear skin and not having to worry about a regrowth for at least one year. Bet my husband wouldn't agree that it was a walk in the park, because he was bearing the brunt, or rather, wrath of my uncontrollable emotional meltdowns. They were powerful, uncontrollable and constant, believe me. I no longer question the ability of a middle-aged woman to control her emotions because I've been through it.

The effects from the injection stayed in my body for about as long as my gynae had predicted. He did say that some of his patients had gone back to their normal period cycle quicker than he had expected. So my uterus went to sleep for about a year and got back up to its normal working condition at the month right after my wedding. Talk about good timing. I'm glad it came back only after the wedding because I didn't have to worry about WHAT IF MY PERIOD CAME WHILE I WAS WEARING THE MOST IMPORTANT WHITE DRESS OF MY LIFE?? The worst thing that happened was my face went into this crazy breakout phase ever since my period came back. So after experiencing an early menopause, I'm now reliving puberty all over again.

I didn't change my skincare routine too much because I was using the same products from before. I've been eating so much more healthier than I already had been and my skin's still going crazy. I've been asked to go for facials more regularly to see if it helps.

It's pure havoc on my forehead and nose. I tried to look up some references online and most diagrams tell me that the area between the eyebrows is related to my liver and the nose is related to my heart. I really don't know what to make out of that. I've been struggling with indigestion and constipation since I was really young and have been taking steps to manage that. So can someone please tell me how I can help my buddies, namely the liver and heart? Note that my eye circles are so dark - that is also from childhood and should be due to my sinus. Blocked nose and mucus are my best friends ever since I can remember.

One of my friends have been updating on Facebook about this liver cleanse that she did. Basically you go on a detox and expel liver and gallstones that are trapped in those organs. I followed her lead and did a liver cleanse two weeks ago and although it was really difficult, I'm glad I did it for my body. Take a look:

Scary stuff, eh? These are mostly gallstones that are pushed out of the gallbladder. Although this detox is called a liver cleanse, liver stones aren't that common. The analysis of my stones indicate that I'm a typical modern human being, as it is green, but also with the likelihood of my liver not being able to process fat and cholesterol. It might explain why I have oily scalp and excess sebum on my face, but my pimples are still here so it could take a few more cleanses before I can blame it on my liver. I was quite gung-ho about wanting to do a few cleanses before I started the detox, but I think I'm going to stick to once every six months (as advised by my nutritionist) because it is quite challenging. I've had to really watch what I eat during the weeks leading to my detox. I only had natural yoghurt with fresh fruits and organic nuts for lunch two weeks prior and have replaced whatever I can into organic products. The reason for being so tired doing this detox was because I had to go clean my colon before and after. It's a fairly easy and quick process but it does make me feel tired because, guess what, I have constipation. But if it's something that will help ease the liver cleanse, then I will have to do it. The liver cleanse only takes a day but the stuff that you need to take can really test your gag reflex. Try to imagine chugging a glass of pure lemon juice mixed with olive oil. Yeah, it wasn't easy for me actually doing it. It was also tiring for me when it came to the time when you're supposed to 'output' the stones because again, I have constipation. But it's good results because my friend who did her liver cleanses told me that I have more stones pushed out than her. Yay?

I've also cut out a lot of processed food. I have homemade bread every morning, made with ingredients that I get from the organic shops. I'm not one to preach about going all out on organic living but I guess replacing whatever we can could go a long way. I've also been really good about eating free range chickens and eggs. The hormones that we put in chickens just goes back into my body and screws it all up.

I'm not sure what else I can do to help improve my skin problems but I guess I'll have to just keep doing what I do, or else it could be much worse.

My home today

I ventured out of home today for a baking class, obviously ignoring the fact that there is a scheduled demonstration in the city. It's not as if I was oblivious to it till the last minute, but we decided to go ahead anyhow. I managed to escape a massive roadblock, had to take a huge turn around to get to the road I was headed towards and got safely to our destination. We had a great time cranking out delicious apple pie and pound cake from the oven. In between the baking, we managed to squeeze in some very interesting comments about the state that we are currently in - 3 Malaysian girls with a German lady who has lived in this country longer than any one of us have. But sadly she is leaving the country very soon.

I was hesitant about reaching home safely but I managed to get my way. I guess being a typical Malaysian driver gave me a lot of training for days like this. Plenty of skillful and creative driving in order to reach my destination.

Catching up on news surrounding the whole BERSIH episode is absolutely amazing in this day and age. How could we have seen all the on-ground videos in just a couple of years ago? I appreciate the guts of those who have no fear and willingly march down the streets to share a piece of their thoughts. It's saddening to see how the government is overreacting to a rally, causing so much pain and inconvenience. Look at how the foreign governments are treating Malaysians living abroad who have also participated in the rally from afar. This just shows the difference in the level of maturity. It also pains me to see how some people are so gullible, agreeing that the rally supporters were the root cause of the inconvenience. Honestly I wouldn't ask for a chaotic country as much as any peace-loving Malaysian. I just want to see us living in a cleaner and fairer state.

I am anxious to see how Malaysia can grow out of this state and would love to see my children (and their children) grow up in a better Malaysia.

In case you were curious enough about my baking adventure today, here's the end result of our community effort. A delish apple pie and raisin pound cake. The cake didn't cool down in time for me to try a slice but I heard it tasted more than alright.

Gambate Japan

The social media network has allowed everyone who has an account to give a piece of their mind whenever something major happens. I mean, major like the 9.0 scale earthquake in Japan and not a punk abusing his pet dog. I've not made any comments about any of these trending topics on the blogosphere, Facebook and such because contrary to popular belief, I don't have something to say about everything. I feel compelled to say something about Japan now because there is a live broadcast of a charity concert in Hong Kong right now and I cannot bring myself to hear stories about the victims and survivors. It's too heartbreaking. It also scares me to no end, thinking what if the same situation happened here in Malaysia. We are nowhere close to having the discipline, kindness and patience as the Japanese. Even if I was a survivor of a 9.0 scale earthquake here in Malaysia, I will be attacked in the aftermath of the disaster by ruthless beings. That I am sure. In these past few weeks since the disaster in Japan, I only have one thing in mind. How could this happen to such a beautiful country? Of course I'm aware there is no one to blame, even if a certain well-knowned Malaysian lady thinks otherwise. There is one thing that I realise, along with many other people, is that the patience displayed by the Japanese during trying times are extremely respectable. Some haters may say this is the result of the Japanese nation being too disciplined since young, but all of these can easily go right out of the window after such crisis. Very few nations can be truly united during such times and it is indeed a graceful thing to come out of a natural disaster. I may not be visitng Japan anytime soon but I wish everyone good luck and may you be strong enough to move on forward.

If this is what people say are one of those 'signs' of the world ending soon, I wouldn't be surprised and as scared as I was a couple of months back when we first read about mysterious massive deaths of birds and fishes. I've decided that the most important thing is to have my mom and Mr. Bun next to me when the final moment arrives. But if that doesn't happen then there's nothing I can do about it because everyone is dying anyway. I've come to terms that our civilization might end in this century and it's perfectly normal. It's not like we're the first and only human civilization that is wiped out from the face of Earth by a massive flood. We've got plenty of artefacts to show us that many other civilizations before us have also been through this before. It just makes it scarier for us as we are now able to see very clearly and sort of predict when 'the end' is coming. I know, it's not lovely knowing how and when you might die. But if it's going to happen then it will happen. It's just a cycle of life. A few thousand years from now, some highly evolved human beings might find artefacts of our civilization and start researching about us, as how we are researching the cavemen. I hope they find my blog and love it.

Truly Asian

I noticed a number of my friends on Facebook have been pretty vocal about their dislike towards the recently announced Malaysian budget. I've received some invitations to support a group against the construction of the dunno-how-many-storey tower but I've declined them all. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I like the idea. It's just that I realistically know that there is nothing we can do about the injustice portrayed in the budget and a Facebook group definitely will not do anything to stop the tower project. It might have worked for Betty White, but it definitely wouldn't work here. I'm more concerned about the nuclear power plant but as I said, what can we do? Or rather, what would really make Malaysians jump out of their couches and start marching down the streets for real to fight for their rights? We only sit around and complain about the racial injustice and bla bla bla but there isn't really much fighting done. Yes, I'm a typical Malaysian and I'm proud to be one.

The French have been prominent in recent news for their riots against their President's retirement plans. They might be putting their travel industry in jeopardy for a few months but I feel it's the right price to pay in fighting for what they think is best for them. The French would say, so what if Lady Gaga can't tour in France for a few weeks? Godamnit, we've got to save our souls before donning our ripped fishnet stockings, blond wig and disco bra.

So I'll continue reading local newspapers only because I work in the Marketing Communications department, only care about where I can find the best asamlaksacharkueyteownasilemak and sit around complaining about the injustice I face simply because I'm a typical Malaysian.

The Meat Dress

The lady has done it again. I wonder how she keeps upstaging her own antics. How is she going to top this? The Internet is exploding with images of the raw meat dress that Lady Gaga wore to the recent MTV Music Awards, and then again to a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. As gruesome as it looks, I actually think there is a high level of workmanship being put into the meat dress. Well, except the ass part. I guess it doesn't really matter since Lady Gaga doesn't fancy covering up her bits anyways. Feast your eyes on the pictures and you be the one to judge (pun intended).

How to retain your creative juices

Regular folks like us would normally abstain from sex due to a number of regular reasons. For example, some of you might be too ugly to get laid or you have a fear of contracting STDs or afraid of being a babydaddy/baby momma after nine months or you might have mysophobia like Emma Pillsbury or you might suffer from even more regular excuses such as stress, lack of time or simply lacking interest in sex.

Lady Gaga has famously announced about her celibacy and now we all finally know why, thanks to Vanity Fair:

“I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they’re going to take my creativity from me through my vagina. I’m perpetually lonely. I’m lonely when I’m in relationships. It’s my condition as an artist. I’m drawn to bad romances. And my song [Bad Romance] is about whether I go after those [sort of relationships] or if they find me. I’m quite celibate now; I don’t really get time to meet anyone.”

Source: Perez Hilton

You know normalcy ain't Gaga's cup of tea. I'll pray for her that hopefully some day, she'll meet a man who is creatively juicier than her so that he may pump more creative juices into her brain. I guess that would be the only way she'll ever be comfortable of having sex again.

She ain't Linda Lovelace

My friend, Chindiana (recently more known as Diana Chin) blogged about the quirkiest Top 5 names of GROs that he had met before and I couldn't help but think of a similar situation that happened to me on Friday. No, I didn't meet a GRO but instead I met someone with a really wacky name.

My shoulders and back were in knots so I decided to head to my favourite massage joint, Thai Odyssey. Felt obligated to mention the name of the place so that no one is going to think that I frequent some dodgy massage parlour. My usual masseuse, Naan was back home in Thailand so I had to settle for another person. As new masseuse was working on my back, I felt that she wasn't beyond spectacular compared to Naan so I figured I might as well stick to Naan when she comes back because she could speak a little bit of Mandarin. New masseuse had me practically dead set on not wanting to use her anymore as she pulled the towel away from my chest when it came to that part of the session. Naan usually keeps the towel where it belongs. But who knew that towards the end, I changed my mind. New masseuse had this spectacular move which she used on my neck and it led me to heaven. My stiff neck had never felt so relieved before. So there, new masseuse won my heart with the smooth neck trick and I decided to switch from my next visit onwards.

So after the session ended I went to the counter to find out her name. The receptionist gave me my receipt and wrote it next to new masseuse's staff number. It spelled 'P-O-R-N'. My eyes nearly dropped out of their sockets when I saw her name. That was kinda like my private LOL moment. I'm positive her name is pronounced as 'porhnnnnn' in her home country and is no where near 'porn' and what that means. We need to get our twisted little heads to start thinking straight.

Spam is bad

I've got spam all around me, and they're not the edible type!! They're the typical spam comments that I bet a lot of blogs get. I'm so sick of getting them here at Hotaspink and I've started to moderate my comments to shield you from them. (You're welcome). I think you guys go through enough torture trying to read all about my whinings and such, so I've concluded that you shouldn't be conned to click on these deceitful 'comments'. Although I have a mild suspicion that Diana Chin might be more than happy to click on those links and chance upon them damn sites with full blown pictures of half-clothed Japanese chicks. You'll never know...

He called me a whore

Sometimes I just want to stay up late at night to get a kick out of it. Always reminds me of how old I am now, compared to my midnight oil-burning marathons back in the university days. Have just finished editing pictures from Michelle's birthday dinner earlier. We had Korean BBQ and stayed on around Kuchai Lama for drinks at this cafe with an impossible name. Good thing about it is the decor's pretty well-done. Oh, and the waiter couldn't stop saying "thank you" to every order made. Before I left home for dinner, I had planned on not wanting to have bimbimbap and kimchi soup. I wanted to stop myself from ordering the same old thing. But it's as if fate had thought of a better plan. The telly was showing something about Korean food. Images of colourful bimbimbap and fiery red kimchi soup started to take over my mind. We ended up sharing one kimchi soup and I managed to refrain from overstuffing myself - by not ordering bimbimbap. I'm so proud of myself!

I think I'm gonna go blowdry my hair now and then crawl into bed. Pictures are uploaded onto Facebook and my job is done. While we're speaking about Facebook, I just found out there's a married couple on my list who are currently dealing with infidelity issues and possibly going through divorce. How did I find out? The husband has been calling out his wife on his status updates and in one of his comments, he was trying to be discreet by using French. Alas, Google Translate seem to have bestowed me the power of snooping around. I can't believe how bitchy a man can get. There is no indication of any sort on the wife's page. For me, it's irregardless who is wrong. What's important is your privacy. I don't get why people have this need to go tmi on Facebook. You're going through a really rough patch, we get it. Now stop plastering your personal issues all over the www. Think about your young daughters. They might find your page one day as reference material for their Psychology course project. On this note, I'd like to congratulate Mark Zuckerberg for a good job in creating a creature that satisfies the desires of severely ADD patients. Just so you know, this couple aren't the only ADD patients on my list. I must remember to not let myself turn into an ADD whore. My female ancestors and I already been called a whore earlier this week. I can't take it anymore!

tmi

In this universe, there is always two sides to everything; black & white, left & right, up & down, Friendster & Fiendster... You get the idea. What I'm trying to say is, what is really huge and popular right now also has haters who dedicate their time and energy to mock its popularity. I'm sure there are also tons of websites out there dedicated to mocking the current "it" social networking site, Facebook. I've read through one once, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember the webpage. This particular one that I read has posts on the silliest and most entertaining Facebook statuses. I'm sure you can easily go on Google, find another one of these sites and have a good chuckle.

By the way, I just saw a status update from one of the peeps on my Facebook friends list and may I warn you that the level of emotional damage inflicted can be as bad as watching your parents have sex. I bet it also makes a brilliant submission to the aforementioned websites. Personally, I felt embarrased after seeing it because the same thing happens to me every month. However unlike her, I (and the rest of the female population) do not go proclaiming on Facebook that it is the time of the month. This person, obviously a chick, posted this:

Anyone can recommend me her a good psychologist gynaecologist?

p/s: Wtf is that dude, Nicholas doing leaving a comment??!

A foxy tale

Yesterday we had quite a scare at home. The security alarm went off in the afternoon and it freaked us out a little bit. Hold on, make that completely panicked. My brother got our cousin who lived opposite to come over to check out the house and he said the door was open and shoes were strewn messily at the front porch. I also got a friend living nearby to wait in front of the house. But she told me everything was normal. No doors were open. But it's not like we had any room to take chances. So naturally I had to tell my boss that I had to leave the office to check on things at home and I took 10 minutes to speed home from Putrajaya. Normally I take a 20-minute leisure drive home after work everyday.

I went in the house with my friend after I arrived. I got so annoyed by my cousin when I saw that things were exactly like what my friend had told me. We hesitated at first to enter but did it anyway. There was no break-in so we concluded that the bugger must've attempted to but ran away after the alarm went off. My neighbours had their houses broken into within these past few weeks, and most of them through the back door or roof.

The police came more than an hour and a half after my mom called. She called immediately after she got the alarm response. They had balls like the size of dried raisins that I pour out of the cereal box that I have for breakfast every morning. We told them there wasn't any break-in but we suspect someone must've tried getting in through the roof. It was obvious neither my mom or myself could get up to the roof and my mom asked them to check. Ten points for those who guessed they never climbed up to the attic. For those who still have blind faith in the justice system in this country, you might as well go drink straight from the gutter right behind your house. If you're lucky, you might just die from E.Coli or something like that. Fyi, they just kept smoking in front of my house and talked about us as if we were crazy and wasted their time coming over. Their ciggie butts are still right outside the gate. One joker even tried to comment that we had a fox up on the attic and the animal probably set off the alarm. Finally one of them just merely stuck his head up to the ceiling opening and concluded that there was no break-in attempts. This stunt, I already pulled off an hour before they reached. Another guy tried to protect their whole police integrity by threatening that they had already checked and we shouldn't spread lies by saying that they didn't check. That seriously left me wondering if they were professional jesters in police uniform. I live in a fucking joke of a country and I'm not doing anything about it!!! This feels even worse than being screwed over by a so-called friend. Somebody tell me why shouldn't we all just emigrate?

Liar liar, pants on fire

What if your spouse had illicit affairs behind your back? Would you rather not have known about the dirty details or choose to set yourself free with the truth?

I used to think stories of cheating spouses only existed on the television screen, or only really happened to a friend's friend's ex-colleague's neighbour's cousin's friend, someone totally unrelated to myself or someone I'd not have known at all. Now that I'm finally making my way through the adults' world, I'm starting to make friends with other adults too. They may not have noticed, but sometimes when I catch a glimpse of their shadows, I see devil horns on top of their heads. It sends chills down my spine thinking of how ugly their personalities could be like. They make excellent storytellers, not batting a single eyelid while they choreograph their deceitful storylines. While I'm trying to learn the social etiquettes of being an adult, I find many actions of others which I personally couldn't fathom. Hearing stories of these dirty liaisons and the thought of merely being acquainted with the suspects gives me a cramp in my stomach. It feels worse than diarrhoea. Are these simply mistakes people commit along this journey we call life? What happened to commitment and trust? What sort of cheap thrills are they seeking by sneaking around behind their spouse's back? Extra marital affairs are never forgivable, nor will they ever become. It saddens me to watch them commit such betrayal to their loved ones and ultimately, themselves. It's even sadder when they think their dirty tracks are well covered and continually search for excuses to justify their despicable actions.

It will break my heart if my other half runs astray, but my soul will fade away if I were the one to break the trust. Fuck the cheaters. I choose to believe true love never dies. I hope monogamy lives on for those who believe in it. I know I do.

Just a random thought

If I stopped blogging for 6 months and seemed like I disappeared forever virtually, would anyone miss me?

Where was I?

I'm beginning to feel fear

Let me share a real life experience. An experience that leaves me fearing for security even when I'm within the four walls of my own home and one that leaves me severely unimpressed with the level of efficiency as displayed by our police force. I didn't exactly walk into my boyfriend jerking off like how the girl did in this ad. Or at least the guy in the ad wasn't really jerking off at all. I'm not sure if it's me, but I seem to have this insane ability to attract ta fei kei sex maniacs wherever I go. And I am talking serious. It may sound funny, but I'm starting to fear my own safety after what just went down. My head is already throbbing in pain from all the unnecessary tension and fear I'm dealing with right now.

I was sitting in front of my computer about an hour ago and for those who don't know, my computer table is in the living room and allows the seater to just turn his/her head to the right and look at the street outside. The house right opposite my home has a lamp post to its left and there was a man standing there. He seemed like he was waiting for someone coming out from that house so I ignored him the first time. What brought me to even notice him in the first place was that he deliberately coughed loudly so that I would turn my head and look at him. A couple of minutes later, I turned around again and realized he had been pleasuring himself and wanted to give me a free show. I called my mom and that's when he darted away.

My mom immediately opened the doors and tried to give chase with a long wooden stick. But she didn't run away alone into the night like that lah! She was telling the Indian family who was living two doors away from my home. That got the aunties and uncles into a heated discussion for a while. Then my mom tried to drive around for a while to look for suspicious freaks, but alas, to no avail.

I locked myself at home while my mom played The Dark Knight and I called 999. The person on the line found it amusing that I called in to report such an indecency and sniggered. He told me to call the operator and ask for the nearest police station's telephone number and he can't help. Fine. So I called the Seri Kembangan police station. So this constabel who answered my call layan-ed me for 30 seconds and when I asked if they could send a patrol car over, he didn't answer my question. He told me that he will report the case. No 'Yes' or 'No' was given. How appaling is the level of security given by our so-called protectors to the rakyat? Perhaps I'm overreacting. Perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised to receive such response in the first place.

Barely a minute after the call ended, he returned my call and told me that my housing area falls under Kajang's authority. This is such a trivial fact because my housing area is no where near to Kajang than it is to Seri Kembangan. Fine. I called the Kajang police station and made the same report. At least this Kajang officer bothered to ask my address and if I still see the maniac around. I told him that the maniac had already ran away. He did mention that they'll send someone over but I've yet to see a patrol car until now. It's been more than an hour since I placed a call to the police station. The maniac is surely hiding somewhere safe and far by now.

So this leaves us to one question: Are we left to protect ourselves in fear and no help can come for rescue? It must be such a pleasure to see our tax money go down the drain along with the smelly garbage which clogs it. I don't know what to do. The world is so fearful right now I could go crazy just thinking about what could happen in worst times. Perhaps my story could make Kamunting detainees feel better about themselves. At least they're much safer in there. No rapists, snatch thieves and burglars after their asses everyday.

As things heat up

Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I'm an agent of chaos. Oh and you know the thing about chaos, it's fair.
The Joker, Batman: The Dark Knight 2008
May the best man wins tomorrow. We rakyat truly deserve a little bit more of fairness around here. I personally wouldn't mind a teeny weeny bit of chaos in return of justice. Not that the candidates necessarily bring justice immediately, but it goes to show that if an upset happens, we're just trying to show how upset we really are. Let's call it our cry for help.

No service tax at most restaurants

PETALING JAYA: Restaurants earning less than RM3mil annually and are not operating from hotels no longer need to charge their customers 5% service tax.

This followed a Government’s decision which took effect on July 1. The decision was made in view of the fuel and food price increase.

Customs deputy director-general (operations) Datuk Mohamed Khalid Yusuf said the move would deprive the Government of RM200mil in revenue.

He said during a press conference here yesterday that restaurant operators should drop by at Customs offices to apply for the revocation of their service tax licences.

He said there were 4,457 restaurants which earned less than RM3mil and the new decision would exempt 93% of them from the need to collect service tax. – Bernama

Picture this:

**After a meal at a restaurant**

Customer walks up to cashier to pay and given a receipt. 5% service tax still charged.

Customer: Eh boss, you earn less that 3 million yearly ah?

Boss: Yea lah. Abuthen?

C: How can you prove? I don't need to pay this extra 5% if you earn more than 3 million ok?

B: Prove what prove?

Catfight ensues...

Seriously, how much longer can we put up with this crappy government we have?

I must say...

I need to apologize for not taking up to my responsibilities. But I'm glad there's a majority who feels the same way as I do, and are not afraid of saying it out loud. Kudos! Power to the little people! Yes, you may be gigantic and tower above the rest, but we sure have a way to bring you down. Albeit slightly. Take my word when I say now that when these all cools down, the first thing I'm gonna do is get my little ass registered for the next round.

Now that the rakyat has spoken, you guys better buck up and stop making lame excuses for all your shitty endeavours. If you only didn't manage to win over Kelantan, I'd fully understand. But look at Penang... Look at Selangor! We've had enough of your shit. So please... Get your act together and we'll be just fine (Yeah, Spice Girls supports us little people too!) We know you'll never really ever step off and not be the ruling party of the country; we just want you to really get it when we say we're fed up. Now, do you finally get it???

Today we shall celebrate in peace. But I'm celebrating for my friend's victory. I'm off to KLCC for her convocation ceremony. Please don't let roadblocks be in my way.

Oh yeah, congratulations to Jeff Ooi. Your victory means so much to so many people in such different ways.

Signing off...
